overview
TMUTAGA is the only Canadian student chapter of the Technical Association of the Graphic Arts (TAGA), representing The School of Graphic Communications Management at The Creative School within Toronto Metropolitan University. Its goal is to promote the work of Graphic Communications Management students to a wider audience beyond the student body of Toronto Metropolitan University and showcase the theses of fourth-year students covering research topics from various graphic arts industries. Inspired by the life cycle of a butterfly, the goal of this journal was to emerge stronger than ever before. This was done by focusing on maximalist colours and typography, while still maintaining accessibility. Motion graphic videos were created for the digital version to introduce each thesis' main topics and ideas succinctly.
challenges
Translating pie-charts and tables with the style guide provided by creative director Miguel was an arduous task, considering there weren't enough colours available to fulfill all the pieces of the charts.
process work
Conceptual layouts were created to be approved by Miguel before rigorous work began on the final deliverable of the journal. The pie-chart problem was solved in this phase of the creation by using tints of the given colour palette.
project specs
The final revision of the thesis was handled by Miguel, ensuring mine and my collaborators' editorial layout matched a cohesive brand identity.
