overview
Oliver's Labels is a multi-faceted commercial printer that specializes in label and decal products. The company has broadened its services over the recent years by taking on the canvas wall art industry, and now wishes to introduce and include personalized iPhone MagSafe® cases as a part of their repertoire, in accordance with their partnership with Gelaskins. I was tasked with repurposing old and creating new designs for this project, as well as establishing the mockup templates with the various iPhone models.
challenges
There are differing physical and design elements in the many iPhone models, mostly to do with the size and placement of the camera module . So, establishing designs where elements wouldn't drastically differ in position from model to model posed a challenge. Another challenge with this project was organically including a blank space where the user’s personalization would appear.
process work
Below are conceptual and ideation sketches to determine how personalization text would appear on the various designs.

project specs
Maintaining the integrity of old designs when repurposing their graphics was key, alongside ensuring the new designs’ overall look matched the aesthetic and quality of what was provided. So, much like the labels these phone cases were based off, the personalization text invited itself to be skewed, arched, or distorted to best match the visual identity of the design. Ensuring the user’s personalization was still legible after these effects was of the utmost importance. Once this self-imposed limitation of how the text was meant to be placed was gone, then the process became much easier and organic.
